Ford Motor Company is alerting workers at the Essex Engine Plant there could be a scaling back of production.
Unifor Local 200 Vice President Tim Little says they've been informed there could be a slowing of the line in October.
He says the reason is the introduction of a Diesel engine to the F-150 lineup.
Little says this is not the first time they've heard this.
"They want to prepare space and every time they've done this with us, every engine we've ever built they say we need this many we make an extra and they take 'em so you know, it is a projection I want to make that clear to everyone"
Little says the new engine coming into production at the Windsor Engine Plant will absorb any displaced workers.
"They're going to go into the new program, so its a transition. It's good news either way, we're not going to have anyone laid off because of the new program will come on to absorb them and if we do need more volume then we'll get some new people coming in. Either way right now we're just, it's just a step they're taking, but no one will see the street"
Little points out that for the past five or six years the company has indicated they could go to two-and-a-half shifts, but it's never happened.
