A joint forces initiative in Essex County this week has led to charges and several unsafe vehicle taken off area roadways.
LaSalle police say the initiative took place on Tuesday with the Ministry of Transportation, the OPP and Windsor police.
The initiative focused on commercial vehicle, truck and trailer inspections.
Police say 38 charges were laid against drivers and registered owners of vehicles for defective or inoperative brakes, parking brakes, turn signals and tires with no tread.
According to police, charges were also laid for speeding as well as several drivers being placed out of service for not having the correct class of licence for the vehicle they were driving.
Police are asking motorists to obey all rules of the road and are reminding drivers to make sure their commercial vehicle or trailer is inspected and safe to operate.
