On the anniversary of the first moon landing 50 years ago, the Windsor-Essex Humane Society is making an offer that's "out of this world."
During the summer months the shelter is often overloaded with kittens from spring litters.
As a way to connect the cats with families there's a special promotion taking place this weekend.
Executive Director Melanie Coulter says they're reducing the adoption fees.
"All cats over nine months of age are free and kittens less than nine months of age are only $30. So it's a great deal."
She says they hope the Apollo 11 connection gets people's attention.
"With the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we knew everyone would be talking about it and we have so many cats and kittens looking for homes," says Coulter. "So we're going to be highlighting them on Saturday."

Coulter adds the program actually starts just before the weekend.
"If you want to miss the chaos and want a little bit of a sneak peak, say a pre-launch landing," notes Coulter. "You can come in on Friday and all felines will be $50."
Coulter hopes the kittens will have as soft a landing as Neil Armstrong did on the moon 50 years ago.
