The Ouellette Car Cruise is coming back for another year.
The chair of the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association has confirmed the event will take place in August.
The car showing at the Riverfront Festival Plaza takes place from 1pm-11pm on August 16th with the parade of classic and vintage cars starting at 6pm at Ouellette and Riverside Drive.
The route runs south on Ouellette to Tecumseh Rd, turns east on Tecumseh Rd. to Pillette, it runs north on Pillette to Riverside Dr and then ends up at Riverside and Ouellette.
Brian Yeomans says the BIA originally decided to cancel the 2019 event because a title sponsor was not in place.
He says Crawford General Contracting Inc. got word of the event being scrapped and decided to step forward as the title sponsor.
"It kind of came out through some communication that we were going to be shelving it and we've had a lot of positive response towards sponsoring it and so we got a very generous donation to sponsor it and we will be moving forward with the car cruise for this year," says Yeomans.
Yeomans says when word got out the event was not going happen, the community rallied together.
"It's amazing how quickly things change," says Yeomans. "We wanted to do it and obviously we know how much love there is for the automobile in this city so we wanted to do it but again it was a very heavy cost to the BIA in the last one.
Yeomans says there was a title sponsor in 2017 but the BIA funded the event in 2018.
The fourth annual event is scheduled to take place on August 16th.
Yeomans says more details will be released in the coming weeks.
