Heavy construction will cause delays on Ouellette Avenue for nearly four months.
Ouellette Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Tecumseh Road and Eugenie Avenue for road and bridge repair work.
Heavy delays are expected when approaching the construction zone from either direction when work begins May 1.
Charles Hartford, Contracts Coordinator for the City of Windsor, says work will be done on the bridge.
"The work should include repairs to the structure over the tracks, as well as milling and paving the road adjacent to the structure. We plan to keep one lane of traffic open in each direction throughout the course of the construction."
He says drivers need to be cautious in the area.
"Be careful. Be aware the construction is going on and expect delays."
He says businesses won't be affected.
"Reasonable access is anticipated to remain open to all businesses throughout the duration of the contract."
Hartford adds it will take approximately four months.
"If we experience a lot of negative impacts due to weather, then it might run a little long, but we expect it'll be wrapped up mid-August."
Construction is expected to wrap up around August 19, weather permitting.
