A promising start took a turn for the Spitfires as Windsor lost 7-4 to the Erie Otters.
Windsor got on the board just past the midway point of the first in Thursday's game at the WFCU Centre on Cole Purboo's 12th goal of the season. Maxim Golod answered back for Erie just 30-seconds later, beating Spits' rookie Kari Piiroinen to tie things up at one.
Luke Boka sent Windsor to the locker room with a 2-1 lead with his fourth goal of the year.
The Otters scored back to back goals to kick of the second frame, bringing Piiroinen's night to an early close and putting Erie up 3-2.
Colton Incze didn't fare much better, allowing Danial Singer to light the lamp just 15-seconds into the switch.
For a moment it seemed like Windsor woke up after Lev Starikov and Tyler Angle scored a few minutes apart to tie things up 4-4 to end the second.
Erie would pull away for good in the third scoring two unanswered goals on six shots before adding an empty netter to put an exclamation point on the OHL win.
Windsor outshot Erie 33-26 in the loss.
The Spitfires head to Saginaw Friday to faceoff against the Spirit — puck drops at 7:05pm.
