Despite falling victim to two crimes in less than a year, an Ottawa St. business owner isn't discouraged.
Windsor police are investigating a break-in to Walkerville Optical on Ottawa St. near Gladstone early Monday morning.
Owner/Operator Mark Trudell says he received a call around 4:30am Monday about a 'glass break' at the store.
When he arrived, officers were already on scene, the front door was smashed out and exclusive independent frames were gone.
Trudell estimates at least $40,000 worth of inventory was stolen.
"They targeted my specialty stuff," he says. "I describe it as a drag, I thought I would feel a lot worse about it, but I love my store and I love this neighbourhood and I love my patients."
"This isn't representative of Windsor and I don't want people to look at this and to get down on the city about this and I don't want people to think this neighbourhood is bad, I love Ottawa St. I love Walkerville, I love Windsor," he says.
Trudell says he is going to look at beefing up security.
In April 2018, there was an armed robbery in the store where $3,000 worth of frames was taken.
