The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is calling on the province to re-open the ServiceOntario centre in Belle River.
The privately run office closed yesterday.
OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas says this is just more proof that rural Ontario is being left behind by Kathleen Wynne.
He says small communities deserve the same access to public services as larger ones.
Residents will now have to drive up to half an hour or more to Essex, Windsor, Tilbury or Leamington to get their driver's licence and health card.
As AM800 News reported earlier this week, Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain pointed out there are about 36,000 residents in Lakeshore and its one of the fastest growing municipalities in the region.
He said the town and Belle River BIA have tried to find a solution since it is always busy in that office.
