No records are expected to be set but temperatures are definitely above seasonal in Windsor-Essex.
With the temperature expected to rise to 10°C by Friday morning, Environment Canada Meteorologist Ryan Rozinskis says we are above seasonal by about eight degrees.
He says a forecasted high of 12°C on Friday, we do fall short of a record.
"The record being 16.7 set in 1984, but still well above normal for this time of year," says Rozinskis. "All of this is courtesy of a system tracking to our north and helping to bring in that warm air from the south."
In terms of precipitation, this region will see rain to start says Rozinskis.
"Rain beginning this afternoon and persisting into tomorrow, so into Friday, and then after the system departs we're looking at a low chance of some lingering flurries for Saturday or Saturday but we're not looking at that amounting to too much."
He says, something to keep an eye on is rapid temperature swings.
"Roads can become icy and remember that we always have to use our winter driving skills this time of year."
On December 27th in 2017 the low hit in the -19°C range. The record high temperature set for December 27th was back in 2008 when Windsor reached 15.36°C — the low -20.6°C in 1944.
