The OPP officer at Caesars Windsor who made the arrest of John Wayne Pierre has testified about that event.
Pierre is on trial for second-degree murder in death of Lesley Watterworth in November of 2016.
Detective Constable Michael Nikolica was initially called to the Legends Bar at around 1am November 2nd, 2016 for a man who was unable to pay his bill at the restaurant. The man was taken into custody when it was learned there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Constable Nikolica testified that the suspect was acting oddly, flexing his arms while humming and singing.
When they got to the holding area at the casino, Pierre was frisked carefully because he had told Nikolica he had a gun and the officer was not sure if he was joking.
At that point, Nikolica discovered Pierre had something on under his suit, at which point the officer says he was told "wait until you see all the blood."
The officer told the court that Pierre's suit pants were loose and when they fell to his ankles he could see he had on denim coveralls on underneath.
He testified that he could see what looked like blood caked on the lower part of the coveralls.
When Pierre was put back in the holding cell, Nikolica testified that he acted strangely, walking around kicking the walls, climbing up on the toilet, sink and a bench that's bolted to the wall.
The trial continues Tuesday.
