Provincial police are investigating a sudden death that occurred in Delaware Nation at Moraviantown.
On July 25, 2026, shortly before midnight, Middlesex County OPP were notified of an individual who had been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and later pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the 33-year-old Chatham resident may have sustained injuries as a result of an incident on River Line.
The circumstances that resulted in the fatal injuries remain under investigation.
The Elgin County OPP Crime Unit is now conducting the investigation in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service to determine what happened.
Police are asking residents, businesses and anyone who was in the area of River Line on the evening of Saturday, July 25, to review any surveillance or dashcam footage and contact police if they have information that may assist the investigation.
