An OPP K9 dog is recovering after receiving naloxone following drug bust in Leamington.
The handler for Maximus had to administer naloxone, which is used to counter the effects of an opioid overdose, after the dog was exposed to fentanyl during a search of a home on Erie Street South.
Police report Maximus was dizzy, disoriented and his breathing was laboured following expose to the powerful narcotic, but is expected to make a full recovery.
The search warrant carried out by the OPP Essex County Street Crime Unit on July 16 resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and Canadian currency.
A 57-year-old Leamington resident is facing three drug trafficking related charges.
