OPP charge two individuals for impaired driving in separate incidents

A busy long-weekend for the Ontario Provincial Police.

On Friday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., OPP investigated a traffic complaint on County Road 20 in the Town of Essex.

A 38-year-old man from Kingsville was arrested and faces a string of charges.

He’s been charged with two counts of operation while impaired, dangerous operation, having control of a vehicle with an open container of alcohol, possession of more than one licence, and obstructed windshield.

On Saturday night around 8 p.m., OPP conducted a traffic stop on Talbot Street East in the Municipality of Leamington.

A 37-year-old Leamington man was arrested and is facing seven charges.

He’s been charged with two counts of operation while impaired, novice driver with a blood alcohol level above zero, failing to apply for a permit, operating a vehicle without insurance, use of a plate not authorized for a vehicle, and driving with liquor readily available.

Both individuals have had their licenses suspended, and their vehicles have been impounded.

Both individuals will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.
