Chatham-Kent OPP have charged three people with stunt driving.
Each case happened in a construction zone on the 401.
Police say on April 30th, officers clocked a car going 150 km/h in a construction zone on the 401 near Duart Rd., a 25-year-old Brampton man was charged with stunt driving.
Then on May 1st, police charged two more drivers with stunt driving in a construction zone on the 401 near Scane Rd., in one case, a vehicle was clocked at 140 km/h in an 80 km/h zone while the other registered a speed of 150 km/h.
A 46-year-old Brantford woman and a 23-year-old Michigan man were charged in each case
Provincial police are looking at increased enforcement along a stretch of the 401 in Chatham-Kent following the spike in stunt driving charges.
Chatham-Kent OPP Constable Jay Denorer says there's no reason for these speeds....
"I'm going to say in the last month-and-a-half we've had around 10 stunt driving charges that we've laid, where people have been well over the 100 km\h, they're into the 150 range. I've seen it go up to the 170-180 km\h range. We were actually making the comment the other day that we're going to have to do more enforcement to get people to slow down."
Along with being urged to slow down, OPP are reminding drivers to leave space between you and the vehicle in front of you if you're travelling through a construction zone.
Those convicted of stunt driving face fines of up to $10,000, 6 demerit points, up to 6 months in jail and a two-year licence suspension for a first conviction.
