The City of Windsor is looking for some help to make this year's 'Open Streets' a success.
The event closes an eight-kilometre stretch of roads to vehicles, allowing pedestrians, cyclists and roller bladers to roam freely along Sandwich St., University Ave., Wyandotte St. E. and Drouillard Rd.
Project Manager Michelle Staadegaard says it takes a lot of people to make sure the event runs smoothly. "I think last year we had just under 300 volunteers to help us out," says Staadegaard. "We need volunteers to help us out with barricades, we need volunteers to help us out in making sure people are welcome."
Open Streets is scheduled for Sunday, September 23 from 10am to 3pm.
Staadegaard says the sooner people sign up, the better. "We would really like to have the structure in place by this August, just so we can ensure that we have everything in place but we will continue to ask for volunteers throughout that time," she says.
Those interested in volunteering are asked to visit the City of Windsor website.
