More details are expected next week about Ontario’s second stage of reopening.
Speaking on Friday afternoon, Premier Doug Ford said details will include how child-care centres will be allowed to resume operations.
The premier says he doesn’t believe the province is moving too slowly to restart the economy, and it must remain cautious to prevent spread of the virus.
Also on Friday, Doug Ford said the $14-billion dollars being offered from the federal government to the provinces and territories isn’t enough.
According to Ford, Ontario’s costs alone to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic are estimated to be $23-billion.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with all of the provincial and territorial leaders in a conference call on Thursday and Premier Ford is calling it a good start to talks.
