A long standing cabinet minister has resigned to seek treatment for "addiction issues," according to a statement from Ontario Premier Doug Ford's Office.
Torie Jim Wilson has stepped down from his position effective immediately and also dropped out of caucus.
The MPP from Simcoe-Grey was in Sarnia for a border crossing event with Ford just a few hours before the news was released Friday night, he was first elected to the Ontario Legislature back in 1990.
Government House Leader Todd Smith will take over as Minister of Economic Development Job Creation and Trade in the interim.
