There is something new on the Windsor Regional Hospital website.
The hospital has launched an estimated emergency department wait time clock for the Ouellette and Met campuses.
The clock is updated every 10 minutes and features historic and real time data.
Jeff Theriault is the Program Manager for the Ouellette Campus Emergency Department.
He says the prEDict system is powered by Oculys Health Infomatics and it ensures a 90 percent accuracy rate.
"It's in our systems that we have access to but providing it to the community we're hoping that will help alleviate stresses on them when they attend the department because they already have the information about wait times and how many people they have in the department on arrival instead of kind of having that unknown, showing up and then us telling them on arrival they're going to wait four hours," says Theriault.
Theriault feels there will be less frustration in the emergency departments.
"Speaking with the nurses and physicians that's probably one of the top questions asked especially in the waiting room is how long I'm going to wait and now coming into the department with that information as well as having it available to them while they're in the waiting room will hopefully help alleviate some of that stress on the patients as well as the nurses and physicians.
The system is also available at 18 hospitals in Canada.
