Ongoing negotiations continue to bring a new family physician to Comber.
As heard on AM800 News in March, Dr. Raymond Anderson is set to retire this August after more than 40-years of serving the area.
Mayor Tom Bain says the town is working with physician recruiter Joan Mavrinac and Erie Shores Healthcare to try and secure a doctor for Comber.
He says they're close but nothing is set in stone.
"We have found a doctor who is more than interested in coming into the Comber area," says Bain. "Dr. Anderson will be leaving us and he carries 5000 or better patients. It's really a huge undertaking for that many patients."
Bain says the doctor their in talks with is from out of town.
"We're hoping to be able to come to terms with the doctor," says Bain. "The municipality provides the facilities for it, looking at doing some updating there and a number of other issues."
Comber has a population of less than 1,000 residents and nearby doctors aren't taking on new patients.
