One Windsor restaurant is benefiting from the city hosting the Memorial Cup.
'The Penalty Box' restaurant at the corner of Tecumseh Rd. E. and Walker Rd. hosted the entire Saint John Sea Dogs team on Saturday for some chicken delights.
Owner Van Niforos says he's friends with the head coach of the team. "We have a long relationship with the OHL teams. Danny Flynn, who's a coach now with the Sea Dogs, he was a coach we met in '93. He was an assistant coach under Ted Nolan with the Soo Greyhounds when they won the Memorial Cup that year. We became friends through the years and I knew a couple weeks ago that they would be coming in, so it was a pleasure to have them.
"Many out of town visitors have also stopped at the restaurant," says Niforos. "We had Erie people in. We've had people from every team. They come in for dinner. They come before the game, we're busy before the games. I mean it's created a great buzz in this town and I'm sure other restaurants have felt it , all the businesses have felt it. There's no doubt in my mind everybody has felt the impact."
Niforos says the Sea Dogs are coming back to his restaurant either Wednesday or Thursday for some ribs.
