An apartment fire in west Windsor has left one person homeless and claimed the life of their pet.
Windsor Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) was called to an apartment building on the corner of Mill and Donnelly Streets just before 9 p.m. Friday.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer John Lee says first responders arrived to find a fire in a unit on the fourth floor of the building.
The blaze was brought under control quickly and the occupant wasn't hurt, but Lee says their cat died in the fire.
An overheated laptop battery is to blame for $50,000 in damages, according to WFRS.
