Today is day 3 at the FINA World Short-Course Swimming Championships at the WFCU Centre, and Canada will be looking for Gold tonight in the Women's 100 metre freestyle.
Penny Oleksiak put Tuesday’s qualification well in her rearview mirror, lowering the Canadian 100-m freestyle record for the second time in a day. Her semifinal time of 52.19 sends her into tonight’s final tied for top seed. Sandrine Mainville, the pervious record holder, sits fourth with a semifinal swim of 52.58.
“I haven’t really thought about last night at all today, I’m just looking forward,” Oleksiak said. “I’m happy with that. Hopefully I can be faster tomorrow. I like knowing that there’s people there cheering for me”
That race tonight is set for 6:37pm.
