Conor Timmins and Kevin Bahl also found the back of the net as the OHL reeled off three unanswered goals.
Michael DiPietro of the Spitfires made 23 saves for the win.
Andrey Altybarmakyan and Dmitry Sokolov replied for Russia. Vladislav Sukhachev stopped 26-of-30 shots in 44:40 of work before being replaced by Alexey Melnichuk, who turned aside all three shots he faced.
The OHL went 2 for 6 on the power play and the Russians could not score on their two man advantages.
A team of all-stars from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will host the Russians tonight in Charlottetown and in Moncton on Thursday.
The best-of-six series is currently tied 2-2.
