The province’s Special Investigation’s Unit has been notified following a police-involved shooting early Friday evening.

According to a news release, on Friday at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an altercation in the area of Roseville Garden Drive and Thornberry Crescent.

Upon arrival, officers located a male suspect armed with a knife. During the encounter, the suspect was shot by police.

Police say the suspect has been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Roseville Garden Drive remains closed between Charlie Brooks Drive and Thornberry Crescent as the investigation continues.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area.

As the SIU is expected to invoke its mandate and assume the investigation, the Windsor Police Service is unable to provide further information.
