Calling all nurses.
The Essex Chapter of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario is now accepting nominations for the 10th annual Lois Fairley Nursing Award.
The award is named after the well known nurse who passed away in 2007.
Her son, John Fairley at St. Clair College says his family looks forward to this award every year.
"It's neat for our family every year to honour our mother but most importantly that have the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario recognize a nurse, male or female, in Windsor and Essex County who has done amazing things for the patients that they serve and take care of during the year," says Fairley.
He says the award recognizes a local nurse.
"It could be someone who works in a hospital, someone in home care, long term care, a visiting nurse, many applications of what a nurse is," says Fairley.
He says area nurses have touched many lives.
"There's so many great stories year after year and it makes you feel glad to know the nurses are doing what they're suppose to do is meeting the needs of those in Windsor and Essex County. Sometimes vulnerable but also you hear the stories of how they've gone past the bed side manner," says Fairley.
The nomination period ends April 17th with the award being presented the last week in April.
To nominate a nurse, submit a 500 words or less story about the nurse.
