The nomination period is now open if you are thinking about running in this fall's municipal election.
Candidates can file their nomination papers beginning today to run for mayor, councillor or school board trustee.
The closing date has also been moved up to July 27th. In previous elections, the nomination period was from early January to September.
Windsor's Manager of Records and Elections Chuck Scarpelli says there are a couple of new steps to take this year including candidates must provide signatures of 25 people who are endorsing them.
There are also new rules for third party advertisers which includes individuals or businesses who want to advertise to support or oppose somebody's election. Third party advertisers must register prior to advertising.
The municipal election is set for October 22nd.
