Time is running out to file nomination papers for October's municipal election.
The deadline is 2pm on Friday for those interested in seeking a spot on a municipal council or as a school board trustee.
Chuck Scarpelli is Manager of Elections and Records for the City of Windsor.
He says as of 10:30 Thursday morning, the city had just over 70 candidates registered.
"We're probably up to about 72 candidates at this point," says Scarpelli. "So comparatively speaking last election there were 99 candidates but the lowest we've had is around 61 candidates so we're inching our way up."
Scarpelli adds there is one change potential candidates need to be aware of when filing.
"One of the biggest changes for a candidate coming in to hand in a nomination paper, a change in the act was the endorsement form to that had to be completed at the time of filing their nomination paper and that has to contain the names of 25 endorsers who are endorsing your nomination," says Scarpelli.
Scarpelli says the city clerk will be certifying the nomination papers no later than 4pm on Monday July 30th.
