So far, so good with the flu in Windsor-Essex.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed says to date, there have been no reported cases of influenza.
In prevoius years, he says cases have popped up in October.
"It varies, sometimes we see cases in October, sometimes we see cases in December," he says. "So far, we haven't seen any and we are actively looking for these cases."
Health officials have predicted an earlier and stronger flu season, due to an increase in the number of influenza cases in Australia so far during the country's winter.
As for the vaccines, Dr. Ahmed says distribution in the region has caught up so anyone who wants a vaccine, can get it.
"We are getting all these vaccine supplies in a phased mode and right now we have enough of the vaccine that we are distributing it in the community," he says.
Last winter, flu numbers were down in Windsor-Essex.
As of March 2019, there were 109 confirmed cases compared to 120 in the 2017/2018 season.
