Good news for commuters in Belle River.
Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Notre Dame St. and West River Rd. is finished and as of 3pm Friday, will be open to traffic.
The work closed the bridge over the Belle River heading into the town, resulting in detours and traffic backups along County Rd. 42 and Belle River Rd.

Project spokesperson Nelson Cavacas says work was completed about a week ahead of schedule.
"It's exciting, it's going to I think greatly improve the conditions for motorists, especially the individuals who were egressing from West River St. to try to make a safe left turn right immediately adjacent to the bridge", he says.
Cavacus says a lot of work has been done in the area to help both motorists and people using active transportation.
"We've got all these pedestrian crossings at the point there at the roundabout, we've also included signage for cyclists and motorists to be aware, we've completed some more sidewalks, and a pedestrian crossover point over the railway crossing," he says.
The whole project took about a year to complete, including a delay for an archeological dig.
