Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed that a suspicious white car spotted on Concession 9 and Gesto Road in Essex this week is unrelated to reports of missing dogs.
A pet owner on Concession 9 reported seeing the vehicle in her driveway on Monday and feared the driver was attempting to steal her dogs which were in the front yard.
Police say the car has been identified as a commercial service vehicle that was working in the area.
Constable Jim Root says all reports of missing dogs in the Essex, Harrow, Gesto and McGregor areas have been investigated and, while two dogs from the same residence have been confirmed missing, there is NO evidence to support theft or wrongdoing.
Police say they will continue to work in conjunction with the Windsor-Essex Humane Society to separate facts from speculation reported on social media.
