It will still be a few months before we know whether or not local retailers will be allowed to open on statutory holidays.
Windsor city council deferred a decision at Monday night's council meeting.
An administrative report is recommending retailers be given the choice whether or not to open on stat holidays — with the only exception being December 25th.
The deferral will give time to allow for public consultation.
Right now, shops must be closed for nine holidays unless they are given an exemption — at a fee of $200 — by the city under the Retailer Business Holidays Act.
