The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is reporting nine new cases of COVID-19 and one death Saturday.
A woman in her 90's died Friday at a long-term care facility, according to WECHU. The health unit says it's monitoring all 44 long term health care facilities in Essex County and there are still outbreaks of COVID-19 at 11 facilities.
The homes are: AMICA, Sun Parlour, Lifetimes on Riverside, Franklin Gardens, Heron Terrace, Country Village Homes, Village at St. Clair, Chartwell Oak Park LaSalle, Berkshire, Chartwell Kingsville Retirement Residence, and Extendicare Southwood Lakes.
Essex County's total now sits at 694 positive tests and 59 dead — 263 people have made a full recovery — making the total active cases in the community 372.
A total of 10,748 people have been tested for COVID-19 locally with 1,797 tests pending, according to the WECHU.
Health officials in Ontario announced its lowest number of cases in more than a month.
The latest numbers from CTV News show 346 new cases in Ontario for a total of 19,944 and 59 more deaths for a total of 1,599 dead — there are 1,268 new cases of the virus Canada-wide for a total of 67,702 and 4,693 deaths.
According to CTV, 31,249 people have recovered from the virus across Canada.
The total active cases nationwide are 31,760 as of 7am Sunday.
