Windsor is getting a new hospital.
As heard on AM800 News, Infrastructure Ontario has set a date of 2021 for a Request For Qualifactions process for the proposed single-site acute-care hospital.
Windsor Regional Hospital president and CEO David Musyj says this is a massive step for the billion dollar project.
"This is a truly outstanding announcement," says Musyj. "It means our new state-of-the-art acute care hospital is going to become a reality — it's happening."

Musyj adds while the RFQ listing is positive, more information is expected in the coming weeks.
Now that the major project has been listed by Infrastructure Ontario, it's just a matter of time before the new hospital is built.
"Well it puts a date to the project on the record — that you go out to Request For Qualifications to get the contractors qualified."
A Request For Proposals process would follow the RFQ.
Musyj says the announcement made on Monday keeps the project right on track, outlined to both Windsor and County of Essex municipal councils.
"We had indicated that we would not need the levy funds until 2026. This announcement puts us right on that timeline," says Musyj.
The hospital will be built on land at County Rd. 42 and the 9th Concession.
