A new taxi company could soon be coming to Lakeshore.
Mayor Tom Bain says the town has received an application and, if approved, the company would operate one vehicle under the name 'A-1 Taxi'.
Bain says as the town continues to grow, so does the need for transportation. "It certainly is a result of, I believe, our continued growth in Lakeshore. Transportation services are certainly an area of concern for us and bus transportation is a main thing, along with that you need taxi service."
"With the growth that we've been experiencing over the last ten years and looking ahead, three new subdivisions coming, there's certainly the growth here and you need the services and the amenities to provide to your residents," says Bain.
There are currently two cab companies licensed to operate in Lakeshore, Belle River Taxi and Gerry's Taxi.
Council will discuss adding the third company at its regular meeting Tuesday night.
