It opened next to Street Help last month

There's a new soup kitchen in Windsor serving the homeless.

Street Help on Wyandotte St. East has opened the "Stone Soup Kitchen" next door to the drop-in shelter.

Administrator Christine Wilson-Furlonger says the kitchen/restaurant became vacant so Street Help took it over last month.

Right now, Wilson-Furlonger says they are cooking on small residential appliances, but with the additional space it will give them more room for storage and for the drop-in shelter itself.

"To refurnish the kitchen and do some other needed repairs and plumbing needs, electrical, , we are going to need $50,000-$60,000 to make it happen," she says.

She says it feeds 200 to 300 people a day.
