Lakeshore council is being asked to approve a $140,000 pathway this evening. The pathway will be located to the west of the Atlas Tube Centre and will connect to Puce Rd.
Mayor Tom Bain says if approved construction for a granular base will begin this year but the project will then head to the 2018 budget process for an asphalt finish. Bain says the new pathway will connect to an existing pathway.
"It's something that will help to finish the circuit and allow people to have a much better area to walk in to take their children for walks and push the baby buggy," says Bain. "It's going to be an asphalt walkway — parts of it have been done so this will help to complete that path and it's something that residents have been asking for to complete that connection. This will allow them to have a much safer pathway. It will be an asphalt walkway, much better for many of our parents who are there with their small children."
Bain says there is already an existing pathway around the centre and this would be a connection.
