A push to rename Colchester Park is on hold.
Essex Councillor Ron Rogers wants it renamed after Elijah McCoy, a well-known black inventor who lived in Colchester in the 1800's.
His fellow councillors aren't convinced, though, saying there are many who are deserving of the honour.
The town is now accepting submissions and will make a decision at a later date.
