Windsor's Jewish community has unveiled a new memorial for Windsor area veterans.
The memorial features the names of 317 Jewish war veterans from the area and details of some of their sacrifices.
The monument will be permanently displayed at the Windsor Jewish Community Centre.
President of Checker Industrial, Bill Mechanic, was in charge of the project.
He says it is important to never forget the sacrifices Canadian soldiers gave for our freedom.
Mechanic says the idea was inspired by other area memorials.
"This project was put together based on what I saw in Essex last year when they unveiled the Spitfire Memorial and I said, "Why don't we have something like this for our Windsor Jewish veterans?", and here we are today with 317 names on the plaque with where they served, when they served and what they did in the service."
The total cost of the project was $10,000.
All funds were raised by the community.
