A new location for the Greek Village has paid off for the 43rd Annual Carrousel of the Nations.
The Greek Village had previously been a staple of downtown Windsor on the corner of Goyeau St. and Ellis St. E., the new location is outside Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church on Walker Rd. near E.C. Row Expressway.
Parking was always a challenge according to Panos Sachopoulos. The President of the Greek Orthodox Community of Windsor tells AM800 News an adjacent lot has kept a steady stream of people coming through the gates.
"We have tons of parking there, we have more parking on our own property here so we've been able to accommodate a lot more people and a lot of people have come," he says. "It's been great."
With a heat advisory still in effect, he says a cold drink and some shade is all people need to still get out and enjoy the day.
"The heat has been great because people want to come out and enjoy the day. I always say that I never complain in the summer so I can complain in the winter, I love the summer and it's great to be out here," says Sachopoulos. "It's been a great Friday, great Saturday and so far Sunday has started pretty strongly as well so we're looking forward to a great Father's Day here with the people from Windsor and looking forward to next weekend as well."
The Greek Village will re-open next weekend as the Carrousel of the Nations continues.
