The 2020 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics is on the move.
This year's event will take place outside of the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre on Pitt St W, instead of St. Clair College's south Windsor campus.
Windsor Police Staff Sergeant Jeff Mailloux says the move was made to involve more downtown students along with businesses.
"This is our sixth annual Polar Plunge taking place on February 28th at 6:30pm, in the evening hours, this is something new for us and despite it being at the aquatic centre, it is going to be an outdoor pool with an outdoor plunge," says Mailloux. "So despite the rumours, that it's going to go inside, it's not, we're going outside and hoping for cold weather."

He says the event has raised more than $200,000 in five years.
"Last year we raised $45,000 in financial donations and exceeded $50,000 when you included in kind donations," says Mailloux. "Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 in financial contributions."
Mailloux hopes to have over 200 participates.
