The new council in the Town of LaSalle is ready to get started.
On Monday, the town held its inaugural ceremony where members of council took the oath of allegiance and read the declaration of office.

Mayor Marc Bondy says it's an honour to serve the municipality.
"I'm humbled that people put their trust in me to lead the council for the next four years and I just hope I can stand up to the standards that were set before me," says Bondy.

Crystal Meloche is making the jump from councillor to Deputy Mayor after two terms.
She says she's looking forward to the new opportunity.
"I don't think I ever saw myself in this position," says Meloche. "Getting on council is really exciting. I love being apart of the town. I never knew if I'd be able to move ahead in council. There's so many great people that I work with. I just can't even put into words the feeling that I have right now. It's just excitement. I'm proud of myself which is kind of nice to have, my family is proud of me so it's really exciting."
Some keys items early on for this council include the 2019 budget and whether the town should opt-in or opt-out for recreation marijuana stores.
The remaining members of council are Mike Akpata, Mark Carrick, Sue Desjarlais, Jeff Renaud and Anita Riccio-Spagnuolo are the councillors.
