A brand new home will be changing hands come fall, but it won't be a typical sale, the home is being built and donated for sale in support of mental health.
Tecumseh based BK Cornerstone Design-Build Ltd. approached In Honour of the Ones We Love with a plan to build a 2,500 sq. ft. home to be sold for charity on Blake Ave. in Lakeshore.
The organization didn't skip a beat when deciding to take that gift and put it to use in support of mental health through Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.
Anita Imperioli founded In Honour of the Ones We Love, she tells AM800 News she was overwhelmed by the offer.
"Really? Is this really true? When they sat down with us and explained, these people are just amazing and so generous to want to do something like this and give back to our community," she says.
Imperiolil she was overwhelmed by the offer.
"This is very unique, I have never had a call that someone wants to build a home and donate it to us, never."
There's still a need for more volunteers, donated supplies, and many other items, but BK Cornerstone Vice President Brent Klundert says they'll begin the project soon.
Klundert tells AM800 News choosing what cause to get behind was easy.
"Our families have noticed how much mental health has affected this area. It's a very important aspect for our company and we just wanted to try and make a little difference and maybe get the ball rolling for others in the community to do the same," he says.
Klundert says the home should be completed by the end of November.
