"They've have wanted us since they heard about our eviction and have asked us to come and join them," says Newton. "We really tried hard to be downtown so we put it off and put it off and kept looking and kept looking and we explored every possible avenue and we came back to Sho last week and said hey I think we really have to take a look at this space. They're thrilled, we're thrilled."
She admits the new location provides new opportunities.
"We will be between Ford City and mid-town so the location is good," says Newton. "We couldn't make it downtown, we tried really hard but this is an exciting opportunity and I think the community is very excited."
As heard on AM800 news, Bike Windsor-Essex received an eviction notice back in June from its home at the Capitol Theatre.
It had to leave the theatre by the end of August.
A deal was in place to move into Snack Bar-B-Q location on Chatham Street East but the space was made unavailable after the passing of downtown business owner Mark Boscariol.
Since then, the group's equipment has been stored in a basement on Drouillard Road.
Newton says the group plans to move into its new home on October 20th.
