Bike Windsor-Essex has found a new home.
The do-it-yourself community bike shop is moving to the Snack Bar-B-Q site on Chatham Street East.
Executive Director Lori Newton says local businessman Mark Boscariol reached out to the group and offered up the location.
She says the restaurant is moving to Ouellette Avenue between University and Chatham next to Downtown Pizza Company.
Newton says Boscariol offered the space with significantly lower rent than other downtown spaces and also said he will assist turning the restaurant into a bicycle-focused community space.
"We got together, we're both I think community builders and we sat down and shook hands and said this is going to be the new home of Bike Windsor-Essex, bike kitchen and I think we're all really excited about it," says Newton.
Bike Windsor-Essex is currently located in a portion of the Capitol Theatre but had to look for a new home after receiving an eviction notice in mid-June.
The space the group was renting is owned by the city but is managed by the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.
Bike Windsor-Essex will move into its new home on August 11th.
