The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has designed a new app focused on keeping you hydrated and cool this summer.
WECHU Water is a web-based mapping tool, providing the addresses and opening hours of different types of water facilities like drinking fountains, water stations, splash pads, swimming pools, and beaches across Windsor-Essex.
Registered Dietitian with the health unit, Alicia Chan says the app also allows you to check out inspection and water quality reports.
"We've also created very convenient links for you to access our online health inspection disclosure system, where you can read the inspection reports for things like public splash pads and swimming pools as well as water quality reports for beaches. So you can make an informed decision about where to spend your summer days," she says.
According to Chan, the app fits well with a lot of the things they already promote.
"Water being the beverage of choice, staying hydrated in the summer months, enjoying physical activity, checking inspection reports to make informed decisions about water and aquatic facilities and just having a lot of fun during the nice weather," she says.
Chan also told AM800's The Afternoon News that the app includes tips and tricks for the summer months as well.
Chan adds the app is both desktop and mobile friendly — so you can access it from home or while on the go.
