Construction has begun on a new Habitat for Humanity home in Leamington.
A groundbreaking ceremony took place over the weekend on the 64th Build Project at 64 Askew St.
Director of Operations Pamela Breault says the new home will be a boost for the neighbourhood.
"We actually were able to obtain this property, there was a derelict house on it and we obtained the property for a dollar and demolished the property and it has given the whole neighbourhood great optimism."
Breault says the organization is sprucing up some neighbourhoods.
"The recent neighbourhood that we have built has actually brought up property values when the habitat home goes in. It is a great feeling when we know that we are helping out the municipality as well as them helping us out."
The Beauchamp Family, a single mom and three children who are currently living in a small rental property, will be able to move into their new home by the end of August when a dedication ceremony will take place.
