Goodwill Industries has announced expansion plans for the Windsor-Essex area.
CEO Kevin Smith says a third retail shop will open in the city later this year.
"It was deemed as an excellent location for donors," says Smith. "So we chose that because of the community and how supportive they've been throughout the Windsor-Essex area and it's in a very good donor demographically area."
He says the newest store, located at 11145 Tecumseh Road East between Robinet & Banwell, will be similar to the store at the corner of Tecumseh and McDougall.
Smith says a trailer is currently set up at the location and on average, it gets 40 to 45 donors a day.
The store will employ about 60 people and hiring will begin six weeks before the opening date.
"Starting next week, we have a new pylon sign that's going up at this site," says Smith. "So it says when our grand opening is and we're getting ready. So it's enclosed now, so if everything goes as planned we hope to do all of our training in the new year and have all the employees ready to start three to four weeks ahead of time."
The store is expected to open on May 31st.
