The Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society has a new leader.
Its board of directors has announced the appointment of Derrick Drouillard as its new executive director.
Drouillard says he focuses on service delivery. "I always think of it as not child welfare but welfare of children in the community with families and so this agency certainly has demonstrated that over the years," he says.
The CAS says Drouillard is 'immensely qualified.'
He was born and raised in Windsor, attended to the University of Windsor and is currently the executive director for Family and Children's Services of St. Thomas and Elgin County.
"The challenges in Windsor are similar to those across the province," says Drouillard. "Over the last while in the sector, we have been understanding better about the over-representation of diverse populations that have been in contact with the children's aid society, particularly indigenous children and black children in care."
He begins his new job in Windsor September 10th.
Drouillard replaces Bill Bevan who retired in April 2017.
