A new tourism website for the Town of Essex is live.
The town has launched www.tourismessex.ca to highlight what the town has to offer, according to Economic Development Officer Nelson Silveira.
He tells AM800 News, businesses are featured at no charge as a way to stimulate tourism based economic growth.
Silveira says the site is the first of its kind for the town and will be a one stop shopping for anyone looking to enjoy what Essex has to offer.
"There's a tourism directory, there's tours you can look at doing in Essex, see and do, eat and drink, stay, plan your trip," says Silveira. "All sorts of different experiences that are unique to the town of Essex."
Silveira says tourism is already prominent in the area, but the new directory will help shine a light on what many who live in the area already know.
"We feel like there's a boom in tourism," says Silveira. "We have the most wineries in our town within Essex County and we wanted to showcase not only the wineries, but our waterfront our amazing tourist attractions and the businesses within our community."
The site cost $9,000 and is part of a larger $25,000 economic development plan, according to Silveira.
