Windsor Police have a new Diversity Officer.
Constable Neil McEachern will be the face of police in the community.
Part of his job will be talking to community groups and neighbourhoods.
McEachern says he looks forward to helping make the Windsor Police Service as diverse as the community it serves.
"I'm meeting various community groups to let them know exactly what we're about and what we plan to do. Windsor is the fourth most diverse community here in Canada, yet we don't reflect that in our police service."
He says he plans on dropping in at local schools as well.
"What I plan to do for next September is get out to our high school to let people know exactly what to do to be a police officer and I think, for anyone, it's about being involved in your community and that's the best fit for the police service."
McEachern, who is from Trinidad and Tobago, says diversity is important in getting the community involved with policing.
"We do need everyone's help and the more diverse we are the better it is for the whole community because naturally, we relate better to the community if we relate better to eachother."
McEachern will be taking on the role from Sergeant Wren Dossant.
